Del Rio Police Department press release

On February 13, 2025, at approximately 11:21 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 800 block of West 8th Street after a female made an outcry on social media.

Upon arrival, officers located the complainant, who had visible injuries to her face and body, including a serious injury to her eye. Emergency Medical Personnel were requested to evaluate her condition.

Through the initial investigation, officers learned that the victim had been assaulted by a known male following a verbal altercation.

The suspect struck her multiple times with his fists and legs, causing significant injuries. A witness at the scene was able to intervene and remove the aggressor before he fled prior to police arrival.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Galindo, 26 years of age. A background check revealed that Galindo had a prior conviction for assault, enhancing the charge to a felony offense.

The victim received medical attention and was referred to the Del Rio Police Department Crime Victim Advocate for additional support and services.

The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division, where detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Violence (Previous Conviction).

Later that same day, officers located and arrested Galindo in the 1700 block of West Cantu Road. He was transported to the police station for processing and subsequently released into the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
