A perceived online threat against students from the San Felipe Del Rio CISD proved to be false, according to the school district.

Tuesday morning the district issued a release that said posts shared by students on social media were found to have originated from another state and that students here were safe.

“SFDRCISD has investigated an early reports (sic) of a social media posting that was shared amongst students. The investigation identified that the posting was originated in another state and has since been identified as non-credible by officials in that state. Therefore, we want to reassure everyone that there is no credible threat to students in our district.

“We would like to thank our parents and community for reporting incidences as they are always important to us. We will continue to remain vigilant and address any and all issues as they arise.

“Together, We Are Better!” the release stated.

The release did not indicated which state nor city the threat originated from nor which school was targeted.

The perceived threat was first circulated on the popular social media app Snapchat before a screen shot of the threat was taken and began circulating through Facebook Monday evening. The photo showed a young man and what appeared to be a firearm and warning persons, via written text, that they should, “Watch out for school Tuesday.”

Schools locally were closed Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.
