On January 9th, 2024 at about 7:41 p.m. Del Rio Police Department responded to the Skate Park located the 1100 block of West De La Rosa Avenue for a report of a male subject threatening juveniles with a machete.
Upon arrival, witnesses pointed at the direction of the male subject running away. Officers pursued the male on foot and were able to detain him. The male was identified as Alan Norberto Alderete; 29 years of age.
Witnesses reported the male subject approached the group of juveniles while swinging the machete in the air. The male subject allegedly threatened the juveniles and attempted to stab at least one of the juveniles with the machete. Officers learned a juvenile attempted to disarm the male subject and received injuries to his hand. This juvenile left the scene prior to officer’s arrival. At least one victim reported to have been placed in fear of serious injury by the male subject’s actions as he attempted to stab him with the machete.
Criminal Investigation Division arrived at the scene and located a machete matching the description provided by witnesses. Alderete was placed under arrest for the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Alderete was transported to the police station for booking process, he was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
