On September 29, 2023, a Del Rio Police Department officer met with a complainant who wished to report an inappropriate relationship between an adult male and a 16-year-old female juvenile.
Complainant told police, he checked the contents of the juvenile’s electronic device and discovered evidence to corroborate a dating / sexual relationship with an adult male. The male suspect was identified as Jose Francisco Renteria; 23 yrs. of age.
The Criminal Investigation Division took over the incident and obtained a search warrant for the electronic device. The search of the device produced evidence corroborating the information reported by the complainant.
An affidavit was presented to a local Judge seeking the issuance of an arrest warrant against Renteria. An arrest warrant was granted against Renteria for the offense of Online Solicitation of a Minor.
Detectives conducted surveillance and located Renteria shortly after the arrest warrant was obtained. Renteria was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be filed.
