City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On December 13th, 2023 at approximately 9:40 PM, Del Rio Police Department officers responded to the 700 block of East Gutierrez St. for a disturbance in progress. The caller reported a known male was attempting to take a child from the residence.
Upon arrival, police met with the subject who was inside the residence holding an infant in his arms. Police met with the complainant who reported the subject threatened to kill her with a screwdriver placing it against her head prior to police arrival. A witness at the scene, corroborated the complainant’s allegations. As police attempted to arrest the subject for the allegation made against him, the subject grabbed a screwdriver while holding the infant in his arms and told police to get their gun.
After a brief negotiation with the subject, police convinced him to disarm himself. Once the subject was disarmed, police safely removed the infant from his arms, and additional officers took him into custody with no further incident.
The subject identified as Lonnie Gonzalez; 35 years of age was arrested and charged with the offense of Terroristic Threat of Family / Household member and Endangering a Child.
