Del Rio Police Department press release
On June 4th’, 2025, the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 600 block of East 10th Street for suspicious activity.
The caller had previously reported the window screens to the residence were removed by an unknown person raising concerns of a possible attempted burglary.
Upon arrival, police met with the caller who wanted police to recover a duffle bag that was left behind by the possible actor. Police recovered the bag containing valuables along with prying tools. The bag was submitted as evidence pending further investigation.
A few hours later police responded back to the same address after the caller saw a person dressed in black running behind the property.
Police arrived and immediately checked the residence, but no subject was located. Police did notice the door to the shed that had been previously secured was now unlocked and had visible pry marks.
Police located several items gathered just outside of a shed, but no subject was located inside the shed. Police continued their search towards the alleyway focusing on the high brush where a male subject was located.
The subject was lying down utilizing the high brush to conceal himself from police. The subject was identified as Francisco Anibal Morales; 38 yrs. of age. A pat-down search revealed Morales had prying tools and a black face mask.
The items removed were identified by the homeowner as their property. Items were described as women perfume, misc. beauty products, and misc. jewelry.
An arrest warrant inquiry revealed Morales had an outstanding arrest warrant from Val Verde Sheriff’s Office for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1B<1G Drug Free Zone.
The arrest warrant was confirmed with the issuing agency and Morales was arrested for such warrant. Morales was also arrested for the offense of Burglary of a Building. He was transported to the police station for processing and later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
