On February 14, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 800 block of East Bowie Street in
Gabriel Chacon Ramos
reference to a motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a Dodge pickup truck had collided with a stationary horse trailer. Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Gabriel Chacon Ramos.
During the investigation, Ramos exhibited signs of intoxication. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person and observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle within arm’s reach of the driver. The container was cold to the touch and contained liquid.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered and indicated multiple clues of intoxication. Ramos was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
A warrant check further revealed Ramos had an active arrest warrant out of Val Verde County for the offense of Accident Involving Damage to a Vehicle ≥ $200. The warrant was confirmed with the issuing agency, and Ramos was additionally taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.
Ramos was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing and was later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending the magistration process.
