Maricar Ortega Chattler is seeking the Republican Party nomination for the office of County Tax Assessor Collector.
Chattler will be the only candidate for the position on the Republican Party Primary Election ballot.
Chattler was born in the Philippines. She attended schools there, graduating from high school and attending two years of university-level classes.
She came to the United States and Del Rio in 2017 with her husband Robert Chattler.
Maricar Chattler became a naturalized U.S. citizen on Nov. 17, 2021.
Chattler currently works for Ventura Promotional Products in the company’s credit department, entering new customers in the company’s computer system, creating invoices and working to collect accounts receivable. She has worked for Ventura for six years.
Chattler also works for UPS as a pre-loader and part-time driver. She has worked for UPS for four years.
Asked why she decided to run for the office of county tax assessor collector, Chattler said, “I decided to run for county tax assessor collector because I have a strong desire to contribute to our community. I believe I can improve the office with my administrative skills, great work ethic and ability to lead and work well with others.”
Asked about her priorities for the office if elected, Chattler replied, “My priority will be to learn and master the functions of the tax assessor collector office and make improvements where necessary.”
When asked why Val Verde County voters should cast their ballots for her, Chattler said, “I am asking the residents of Val Verde County to vote for me because I will bring conservative values to the office. I have the best intentions for our community and I want to help and be part of our continued success.”
