Del Rio Chamber of Commerce Press Release
A recent meeting between Del Rio authorities and representatives of local business organizations marked the announcement of extended hours for commercial traffic at the Acuña and Del Rio customs offices.
The new schedule, beginning Monday, Aug. 25, applies to heavy and commercial vehicle traffic:
-
Exports from Acuña to Del Rio: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
-
Imports from Del Rio to Acuña: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to midnight
Chamber officials say this expansion represents a significant opportunity for the border region’s industry, commerce and economic development. It is also expected to increase competitiveness and the number of commercial crossings, bringing the region closer to meeting requirements for a proposed new international bridge.
“This encourages companies to choose our border, brings in more commercial traffic and ultimately translates into greater resources, more jobs and continued regional development,” one official said.
The chamber extended its appreciation to Liliana Flores and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection team, Deputy Director Luis Ángel Ramírez of the Acuña Customs Office, and leaders from CANACO, CANACINTRA and AMADAC. Additional thanks were extended to municipal, state and federal officials, CAPUFE, and local business leaders, as well as Del Rio Mayor Al Arreola for his continued collaboration.
