NEWS — PD arrests suspect in family violence and aggravated assault case

On September 20, 2025, at approximately 10:07 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of La Grande Street regarding a disturbance in progress.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a victim who reported that the

Jorge Heraclio Bustillos Sr.

suspect had caused bodily injury to their facial area and attempted to assault another household member with a hammer.

The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. A search of the immediate area was conducted, but the suspect was not initially located.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspect was possibly headed to a residence in the area of Teresa Street. Officers followed up and located the suspect inside a residence on Teresa Street. He was identified as Jorge Heraclio Bustillos Sr., 38 years of age.
Bustillos was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Family Violence) and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence). He was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing. While in custody, Bustillos requested medical assistance, claiming to have ingested narcotics prior to his arrest.
Emergency Medical Services transported him to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for medical clearance. Following clearance, Bustillos was released into the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility, pending magistration.
