City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On March 8th, 2024 at 9:54 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department took a report for a burglary of motor vehicle that occurred at the 100 block of San Marcos St. between 03/06/2024 – 03/07/2024. The victim reported the actor(s) removed a handgun from the interior of his vehicle without his consent.
The Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation and discovered a total of four vehicle burglaries had occurred within the same block. Multiple items were removed from the victims’ vehicles to include currency, sunglasses, and other personal identifying information.
Detectives discovered evidence linking two suspects to the burglaries. At approximately 6:40 p.m. Detectives took two juveniles into custody. A 15 yr.-old male was taken into custody and charged with Burglary of vehicles (4 counts), Theft of a firearm, Fraudulent Use /Possession of Identifying Information, and Possession of Marihuana <2oz.
The second juvenile, being a 16 yr.-old male was taken into custody and charged with Burglary of vehicles (4 counts), Theft of a Firearm, and Tampering with Evidence
