NEWS — PD recovers stolen vehicle from San Antonio

On January 15th, 2025 at approximately 7:11 p.m. the Del Rio Police Department received information regarding a stolen motor vehicle heading westbound on U.S. Hwy. 90 E. towards Del Rio, TX.  The vehicle was described as a black in color 2023 Nissan Rogue, stolen out of San Antonio, Texas.

Officers began searching the area for the stolen vehicle, but no contact was made. Officers then searched the area of Spur 239 towards the International Port of Entry suspecting the stolen vehicle could be traveling towards Mexico.

Officers were able to locate a vehicle matching the description at the Stripes Convenience Store located at 2200 Spur 239. The vehicle was occupied by one sole occupant, and it was bearing a Mexico license plate contrary to the license plate provided to police.

Officers made contact with the driver identified as Jesus Oliverio Rivera; 18 years of age and explained the reason for the contact. A VIN inquiry revealed the vehicle was the stolen vehicle that had been reported to police.

Rivera was ordered out of the vehicle and was detained for further investigation. A short field interview revealed Rivera received payment to transport the vehicle to Del Rio.

Rivera was arrested for the offense of Theft > = $2,500 < $30, 000. He was transported to the police station where he was processed for the offense and was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration process. The vehicle was recovered and towed away from the scene
