Press Release to the 830 Times

On August 11, 2022 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a Del Rio Police officer made contact with a Del Rio High School student who reported she was released from school at approximately 1:20 p.m. and walked home.
The student reported she was walking near the 100 block of Fairway Drive when she noticed a white in color, older model van. The student said the van approached her and a Hispanic male exited the side of the van, asking her “come here” in Spanish. The student became scared and ran away from the area towards her residence. The student reported the van was driven by another person; no description provided.
As officers began to investigate the information reported above, they learned of a previous incident that occurred the evening of August 10, 2022 at Gutierrez St. and Waters St. to a Del Rio Middle School student. This student reported she was standing near the intersection at approximately 3:40 p.m. waiting for her ride to arrive. The student then noticed a white in color, SUV driving northbound on Waters St. The student reported a male driver asked her to get in his vehicle as he claimed to know her mother. The student immediately began to walk away from the location. The driver made a U turn and approached the student a second time, asking her to get in his vehicle. The male driver was described as a middle-aged male, medium complexion, with long hair (jaw line length), black and gray hair color.
Del Rio Police Department Officers and Detectives are currently investigating both incidents. If you have a home or business video recording system, you are encouraged to review the footage for the dates and times provided above.
Please report any information that may assist in identifying these vehicles or subjects. Any information can be reported to 830-774-2711.
