Del Rio police today continued to investigate a “shots fired” incident that occurred
Wednesday night near a south Del Rio church and a housing project.
Del Rio Police Department Detective Darian Castro, the lead investigator in the case, told
The 830 Times in an interview today police officers were notified of the incident about
8:45 p.m. Wednesday.
“The patrol division received a call for service for shots fired in the area, and at that time,
there were multiple vehicles and multiple people, and the officers received a number of
conflicting stories (after arriving on-scene),” Castro said.
Castro said officers were initially dispatched to the 400 block of Cochran Street, located
in the Chihuahua neighborhood of south Del Rio. The area where the incident reportedly
occurred is located between the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the San Jose
Development, a housing area operated by the Housing Authority of the City of Del Rio.
Castro said officers who responded to the call did not find any injured persons, but “there
were shell casings that were located.”
Castro also noted no one has been arrested in connection with the reported incident.
“Our investigation into this case remains ongoing,” Castro said.
