The Del Rio Rams and Queens turned their only home meet of the season into a showcase Saturday, sweeping the first six individual places in both varsity races at the Del Rio XC Invitational.
Del Rio’s boys and girls each finished with a perfect team score of 15 points, the lowest score possible in cross country. The Rams and Queens accomplished the feat by placing their five scoring runners in the first five positions—and then adding another Del Rio runner in sixth place.
Ray Torres led the Rams across the finish line, winning the boys’ varsity 5-kilometer race in 16 minutes, 25.26 seconds.
Alexavier Medina gave Del Rio a one-two finish, placing second in 16:58.10. Jesus Robles was third in 17:37.62, followed by Emiliano Zuniga in fourth at 18:11.65.
