Press release from the office of U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS—Today, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) hosted a second conversation with federal, state, and local healthcare leaders to share updates on his work in Congress to protect Medicaid and other critical healthcare programs millions of Americans rely on.
“This morning, I hosted a follow-up meeting with over 40 federal, state, and local healthcare leaders and organizations to hear their concerns and share what I’m working on in Congress to protect Medicaid. I trust the experts—cuts to critical healthcare programs like Medicaid will rip the rug out from under millions of Americans,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales. “Building a budget that cuts wasteful spending and protects tried and true programs, such as Medicaid, is a top priority for me and many of my colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives. A budget that works for the people, not against them, is the end in mind we will achieve.”
Senior leadership from the American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, National Rural Health Association, Federation of American Hospitals, American Nurses Association, Texas Association of Community Health Centers, Texas Hospital Association, and multiple local hospital leaders from South and West Texas attended Congressman Gonzales’ meeting.
In February, Congressman Gonzales led a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson urging leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives to support a budget that reins in wasteful spending and delivers on President Trump’s agenda without cutting critical programs that would devastate millions of Americans. Following Congressman Gonzales’ letter, Speaker Johnson met with Congressman Gonzales and several members of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, chaired by Congressman Gonzales, to hear their funding priorities for critical federal programs, including Medicaid.
