San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District press release
Mrs. Aurora Guerra, Principal at Roberto “Bobby” Barrera, received the official announcement today that the Roberto “Bobby” Barrera Elementary STEM School has been named a 2025 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School.
This prestigious recognition comes because of the school successfully meeting the criteria in all nine categories of the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence national assessment process. This honor reflects the commitment of the school’s faculty, staff, and leadership to providing an exceptional learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
The prestigious award will be presented during the Blue Ribbon Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at the Awards Brunch on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Designation as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School lasts for five years, at which time the school will be eligible for renewal.
Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools commit to sharing expertise and exemplary practices with other schools on a local, regional, and national level as well as providing mentoring and networking to schools seeking guidance and assistance in school improvement initiatives.
SFDRCISD congratulates and applauds Mrs. Guerra, the faculty, and staff at RBB for their outstanding achievement and dedication to national excellence in schools.
“The partnership between San Felipe Del Rio CISD and Laughlin Air Force Base has been a cornerstone of our school’s success. Together with our dedicated families, students, and staff, we’ve created the perfect combination for excellence earning national recognition as a Blue Ribbon School, which we will proudly display next to our Texas Purple Star,” said Guerra.
