The San Antonio law enforcement officials are investigating the shooting death of a 27-year-old Del Rio woman that occurred over the weekend.

According to a story published in the San Antonio Express News, an investigation is ongoing into the death of Rayne Rice Silva of Del Rio. Silva was reportedly struck in the head by a bullet fired by an unknown assailant at the vehicle she was riding in on Interstate 10 Saturday evening around 8. Silva was transported to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead Sunday evening.

The driver of the vehicle, Silva’s husband Erasmo Silva, was uninjured. According to the article, the couple was in San Antonio visiting family for the holidays when the shooting occurred.

Rayne also leaves behind two children – a four-year old daughter named Nakoma and a one-year-old son named Malachite.

The Silvas owned and operated Nakoma’s Woodworking, a home based, home décor business that was named for the couple’s daughter, Nakoma Rae.

Rayne’s longtime friend, Alyssa Riemann, has organized a GoFundMe to help with the medical and funeral expenses associated with Rayne’s death. As of Thursday afternoon, more than $17,000 had been raised. The goal is to reach $35,000. Persons interested in donating can do so at https://gofund.me/b1eb208c

Riemann, who had work from Nakoma’s Woodworking on display at her recent wedding, wrote on the page, “Rayne was a great friend, selfless, full of life and she devoted her love to her children and husband.”
