NEWS — SFDRCISD UPDATES PLANS AMIDST SHARP RISE IN COVID-19 CASES

SAN FELIPE DEL RIO CISD release

The recent spike in COVID-19 cases has caused concern throughout the community; and has led to questions regarding the District’s plans to resume classes on Monday, January 4, 2021. In light of this circumstance, SFDRCISD has carefully reviewed state guidance regarding school closures, but has opted to strongly recommend an alternative solution which would not alter the operation of schools.

All classes, including online and in-person instruction, will resume as previously planned on January 4, 2021. However, the District strongly encourages parents whose children are currently participating in face-to-face instruction to consider a temporary switch to online instruction through January 15, 2021. This option would allow families some time before returning to school in-person. If any family is not able to engage in online instruction, then the District will stand by ready to serve their children and provide face-to-face instruction on January 4th.  Any student opting to remain in face-to-face instruction should simply return to the same school and the same classroom they attended prior to the winter holiday.

As a reminder, parents are urged to keep their children at home if they are experiencing mild symptoms, live in a household that has been exposed to COVID-19, or are quarantined due to other exposure, travel (military requirement) or illness. Parents should promptly notify their schools if any of these quarantine requirements apply to your family.
