By Eddie Morales
Texas State Representative
I had the chance to meet with the Val Verde County Commissioners’ Court, the City of Del Rio, and San Felipe-Del Rio CISD to discuss the pressing issues facing our communities.
It was a privilege to provide a legislative update to the

Commissioner’s Court and hear directly from local leaders on how the state and county can work together to ensure our needs are met.
In meeting with the city, we discussed critical issues, including transportation infrastructure as well as water policy. Water for House District 74 is a critical issue, and our communities are in desperate need of funds to help address crumbling infrastructure and bring in a new water supply. My office is working with the Texas Water Development Board and relevant agencies to ensure every community in our district is taken care of.
In meeting with the school district, it was great to connect with Superintendent Dr. Carlos Rios and discuss HB 2, our critical public school funding bill that I was proud to co-author. This bill will bring over $8.5 billion in new funding to our schools across the state, including much-needed pay raises for our teachers.
The hospitality of the county, city, and school district was fantastic, and I look forward to continue working with our local leaders for the 90th Legislative Session to continue building on our successes!
