City of Del Rio Police Department press release

On February 3rd, 2025, at approximately 11:28 a.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer responded to the 100 block of Alyssa Dr. for a stolen trailer.
Upon arrival, police met with the complainant who reported he had borrowed a trailer from a friend that resides in Eagle Pass, Texas. The complainant said he parked the trailer in front of a relative’s home due to having the space to park the trailer in an empty field.
The complainant told police he discovered the trailer missing when he was about to return it to the owner.
The trailer was described as a Diamond C Gooseneck valued at $28,000 dollars. A police report was generated, and it was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
Detectives developed a possible location for the trailer in Brackettville, Texas. The case Detective obtained a search warrant for the property.
Detectives along with the assistance of Kinney County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant and the trailer was located. The trailer was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Investigation revealed the relative of the complainant sold the trailer without the knowledge or effective consent of the owner. The relative was identified as Francisco Tovar III; 29 years of age.
The case Detective obtained an arrest warrant against Francisco Tovar III for the offense of Theft of Property >=$2,500<$30, 000.
On 02/08/2025 Tovar was taken into custody without incident, he was transported to Del Rio Police Department for processing and booking. Tovar was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility; pending Magistration process.
