Two Del Rio teenagers have been charged with robbery and kidnapping after assaulting two men, holding them against their will and taking some of their possessions, police said.

Aldo Jasso Jr., 18, 505 E. De La Rosa St., and Jesus Vasquez, 18, 311 Riojas St., were arrested Aug. 26 and Aug. 25, respectively, and they were each charged with the offenses of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies, according to arrest reports released recently by the Del Rio Police Department.

In an affidavit filed in the case, DRPD Detective Joe W. Castillo wrote patrol officers were dispatched to 1004 E. Adobe St. at 11:57 a.m. on Aug. 23 “regarding a suspicious vehicle that had been abandoned at a residence that was under construction.”

Castillo said the vehicle was described as an orange 2006 Chevrolet HHR.

“Later that day, two male subjects, identified as Raul Levrie and Christian Lopez, traveled to the Del Rio Police Department and met with officers. Levrie and Lopez both had physical lacerations and injuries to their faces. Both subjects stated they were victims of an armed robbery and kidnapping. Levrie also stated his vehicle, an orange Chevrolet HHR, had been stolen from him during the incident,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo reported Levrie said earlier in the day he had picked up Lopez, who is his cousin, and said Lopez asked him to drive to Lopez’s friend’s house on East Rodriguez Street. Levrie said when he and Lopez got to the house, a man, later identified as Vasquez, came out and talked with Lopez.
“Levrie stated Vasquez was speaking to Lopez from the passenger window . . . Levrie stated Vasquez went back inside the residence and returned shortly with another male, later identified as Jasso. Levrie stated Jasso approached his side (of the vehicle) and immediately punched him in the face, causing him to become disoriented. Levrie stated he looked over to Lopez and saw him get struck in the face by Vasquez with a black rifle,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo wrote Levrie told him he saw “Lopez on the ground twitching uncontrollably.” Levrie told the detective Vasquez and Jasso then pulled him out of the vehicle and beat him.

“Levrie recalled being hit with the black rifle by Vasquez as well. Levrie stated he was then lifted to his feet, and they forced him and Lopez inside the residence. Levrie stated they then forced him to (bind) Lopez’s hands together using black electrical tape,” Castillo wrote.

The detective said Levrie claimed he saw Jasso carrying a black handgun in the waistband of his pants and said he was “held at gunpoint and was forced to assault Lopez.”

Castillo reported Levrie told him there were several other men he did not know in the house.

“Levrie stated at one point one of the male subjects had contemplated the idea of killing them. Levrie stated the male subjects took his wallet and both of their cell phones. Levrie stated the male subjects threatened them by telling them if they called the police they knew where they lived, and they would go kill them and their families,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo said Levrie claimed the men in the house repeatedly assaulted him and Lopez.

“Levrie stated about an hour passed when he heard the male subjects arguing amongst each other. Levrie heard one male subject say they should just kill them both. Levrie stated he heard Vasquez say he would handle the situation himself,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo said Levrie told him he and Lopez were then taken back to his vehicle, and Lopez was placed in the back seat. Levrie told the detective he was ordered back into his vehicle at gunpoint and forced to drive to Jap Lowe Drive. Levrie said one of the men from the house, whom he was unable to identify, held a handgun to his thigh as he was driving.

“Levrie stated he . . . was told to stop at a water crossing. Levrie stated the (unidentified man with the gun) commanded him to get out and to get Lopez out of the vehicle. Levrie stated Lopez was still masked and bound. Levrie stated the male then departed the area in Levrie’s vehicle,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo reported Levrie said as soon as the man left, he unmasked Lopez and untied his hands. He said he and Lopez walked back to Levrie’s residence, cutting through the brush.

Castillo said he also obtained a statement from Lopez, which corroborated Levrie’s story.

“(I) recovered Lopez’s and Levrie’s bloody clothes for evidence. (I) also traveled to Jap Lowe Drive and located two black electrical tape strips and a bloody towel on the side of the road near a water crossing,” Castillo wrote.

Castillo obtained arrest warrants for Vasquez and Jasso. Vasquez was arrested at his residence, and Jasso was arrested at the police station.

Bonds totaling $200,000 were set in the cases against Vasquez, and bonds totaling $200,000 were set in the cases against Jasso by Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Antonio Faz III.
