SAN ANTONIO – Federal prosecutors filed 331 new immigration and immigration-related criminal cases in the Western District of Texas from June 6 through June 12.
Among the new cases, several stemmed from Del Rio and Eagle Pass.
In Del Rio, Salvadoran national Alberto De Jesus Moran-Mejia was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents for illegal re-entry. Moran-Mejia is a twice-convicted felon, with a prior re-entry conviction in 2010 and a 2024 conviction for assault on a law enforcement officer, along with a DWI. He has been deported five times, most recently on Aug. 30, 2024, through Washington, D.C.
Luis Cesar Carmona-Lopez, a Mexican national, was also arrested in Del Rio for illegal re-entry. He has been deported six times, most recently on Dec. 21, 2024, through Del Rio. Carmona-Lopez has three prior felony re-entry convictions and was found in violation of felony probation in August 2024.
In Eagle Pass, Marlon Catalino Diaz-Flores, a Honduran national, was arrested and charged with illegal re-entry. He was removed from the U.S. for the fourth time on March 16, 2024, through El Paso, following a January conviction for illegal re-entry.
In El Paso, Guatemalan national Geremias Ambrocio-Vicente was arrested for illegal re-entry less than four miles west of the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry. He has multiple convictions, including a 2020 rape conviction in Albany, New York, and a 2022 illegal re-entry conviction in Rio Grande City. He was deported on July 13, 2022, through New Orleans.
Also in El Paso, Miguel Angel Enriquez-Ramirez, a Mexican national, was arrested on June 9. According to an affidavit, he admitted to working with the La Línea transnational criminal organization and was allegedly paid $600 per week to harbor undocumented migrants in an apartment, where agents found nine illegal aliens.
Ranferi Alonso-Osorio, also a Mexican national, was arrested after allegedly picking up multiple undocumented individuals in a pickup near the International Boundary fence. After being stopped by Texas DPS, seven individuals allegedly fled from the vehicle. Alonso-Osorio was found hiding in a backyard recycling bin. He admitted to transporting undocumented migrants on approximately 15 previous occasions, claiming to have moved about 30 people total.
These cases were referred by or conducted in cooperation with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE ERO), U.S. Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, ATF, and state and local law enforcement.
The Western District of Texas spans 68 counties and includes major cities such as San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso. It encompasses 93,000 square miles, shares 660 miles of border with Mexico, and serves a population of approximately 7.6 million people.
