A woman who allegedly slashed a man’s belly with a kitchen knife was arrested and charged with felony assault, Del Rio police said.

Elda Becerra, 28, whose residence address is listed as 1512 Ave. U on her Del Rio Police Department arrest report, but who also lists a residence address of 124 Texas Drive on her court paperwork, was arrested just after 3:12 a.m. on Sept. 2, according to an arrest report released recently by the DRPD.

Becerra was charged with the offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, dating violence, a first-degree felony, her arrest report shows.

In an affidavit filed in the case, DRPD Officer David Valdez reported he was dispatched to 1512 Ave. U at 3:12 a.m. on Sept. 2 after police received a call about a disturbance in progress at that residence. The caller told police a woman was trying to stab him with a knife.

“Upon arrival, the male caller, (a 25-year-old man), was outside of the residence and informed (me) that his girlfriend, Elda Becerra, was inside the residence with his father,” Valdez wrote.

Valdez reported he went inside the house and spoke to the caller’s father, who told him “Becerra had the knife removed from her person.”

“(I) made contact with Becerra and escorted her outside to gather more information. (I) was informed by (police dispatchers) that Becerra had three outstanding warrants with the Val Verde Sheriff’s Office which would be accepted by GEO,” Valdez wrote.

Valdez said the caller “showed wounds to his abdomen which were consistent with slash marks made with a bladed instrument and stated he felt pain from the injuries.”

Valdez does not note whether or not he summoned an ambulance to treat the caller’s injuries or whether or not the caller later sought medical treatment on his own.

“(I) transported Becerra to the Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing while assisting officers remained on scene to collect evidence as well as further information relating to the incident. Officers on scene recovered a kitchen knife used in the commission of the assault,” Valdez wrote.

Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Pat Cole set a bond of $200,000 in the case against Becerra.
