Obituary — Dorothy Weddle

Dorothy Robertson Weddle, age 88, of Midland, Texas passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born in Coke County, Texas on February 21, 1935 to the late Tom R. Robertson and Josie Emma Gallard Robertson.

Dorothy was grit and gumption yet kind, caring and incredibly generous. She was elegance yet no stranger to work. She had a deep sense of love and loyalty to her community and in every phase of her life she gave in service to others. Excellence was her fuel, duty and honor her code. Thus, in her latter life she embarked on a whole new journey, law enforcement, and an absolute stellar career serving as a patrol deputy, justice of the peace, bailiff and court security officer. She fully exemplified the western way of life and loved tending to her animals, baling hay, training champion race horses, as well as attending and supporting the San Angelo Rodeo. She was deeply passionate about her interests and her word was as good as gold.

She instilled in family and friends a sense of responsibility to community and making the world a better place. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her forever love, Jerald Y. Weddle.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 12-7pm, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Robert Lee First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 15 W 10th St., Robert Lee, Texas 76945. Funeral services will be held at the same location the following day, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11am. Burial and committal will immediately follow at Paint Creek Cemetery. Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Wilbur White, Skylar Rogers, Halston Hunt, Tommy Roach, T.J. Bradberry, and Austin Roach.
