The 830 Times Publisher
Thank you so much for the support you’ve given this small band of warriors working hard to provide Del Rio with fair and balanced news coverage on a daily basis.
In May 2020, we started the online edition and in December 2020, we published the first-ever paper edition of Del Rio’s 830 Times.
Online, we’ve had more than 800,000 sets of eyes look at our content and produced 56 newspapers. The last several papers have been 40 pages plus, of all local news.
All of that content is local news for you!
You are the one we are producing this for and we thank you for giving us the privilege. We are firmly convinced our community needs local coverage and we are going to do everything we can to keep providing it for you.
The lengths Brian Argabright and Karen Gleason will go to make sure your community is covered is unparalleled.
On a recent quiet Sunday evening, I started receiving texts that someone had fallen off of a local overpass. It was Karen’s beat so I sent her information, with the expectation she’d work the phones and provide a couple of paragraphs.
That’s not the Gleason way. In an hour, we had pictures and stories from the scene where she’d gone.
Brian is equally adamant about giving our sports scene solid coverage. For years, I’d admired his passion and skill covering our local sports. After working with him, I had even more respect for him.
Recently, he and I went to Eagle Pass to cover a four-day Babe Ruth baseball tournament. We’d drive down, cover the game and come back. Del Rio quickly found themselves out of the championship picture. The Del Rio All-Stars were outgunned and I told Brian not to worry about going to cover the last games.
“No, this is important, I’ll be here to cover these kids,” he told me. I could tell he was inwardly rolling his eyes and questioning my passion.
All of us are doing what we love and it’s thanks to you. If you weren’t reading it, if you didn’t care, the advertisers wouldn’t support us.
So thank you! Also, thank you to the amazing advertisers who also make it all possible. If you can show these advertisers some love, it would be appreciated. Also, thank them for supporting us.
Everyone has come behind us and made this possible.
Since 2,004, more than 2,100 newspapers have gone under in the United States; thanks to you, Southwest Texas has a new one, and there’s more to come.
We now have The 830 Hour on KTDR 96.3 from 7 to 8 a.m. where we talk to local newsmakers. However there is more to come. In the next year, you’re going to see more video content and a stronger social media presence as we strive to serve you.
We are working hard to keep making it better and better for you.
Thank you for the opportunity.
