SPORTS — Del Rio Middle School’s eighth grade boys win at Medina Valley

Del Rio Middle School’s runners hit the road this weekend and competed in the Medina Valley Panthers 2022 Invitational.

The school’s seventh grade team was third in its race. Lytle was first with 51 points followed by Medina Valley Middle School with 66 points. Del Rio finished with 82 points.

Two of Del Rio’s runners finished in the top 20. Karissa Martinez was 12th in 15:31.6, and Celeste Garcia was 18th in 15:58.1.

Anna Curtis was 26th in 16:48.6 by 16:48.6, Isabella Valdez was 29th in 17:14.1, Olivia Leon, was 32nd in 17:26.1, Hazel Altman was 35th in 17:31.8, and Reagan Becker was 41st in 18:17.6.

 

SEVENTH GRADE BOYS

Del Rio’s seventh grade boys team was second overall, missing first place by three points. San Antonio Home School was first with 58 points.

Two of Del Rio’s runners finished in the top 10. Jacob Saucedo was fourth in 12:13.4. Teammate Ethan Jurado was seventh in 12:55.1.

Ray Torres was 15th in 13:46.1, Carlos Jaquez was 20th in 14:11.8, Jesus Robles was 24th in 14:22, Alexavier Medina was 37th in 15:35, and Adaberto Mendoza was 42nd in 15:55.6.

 

EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS

Del Rio Middle School’s eighth grade girls team also finished in the top three in its race, taking third place overall.

Basis was first with 34 points, Cole was second with 68 points and Del Rio was third with 90 points.

Camila Fernandez was Del Rio’s top finisher, coming in 20th place overall in a time of 15:51.8. Her teammate Eunice Martinez was 21st in 15:56.1

Gabriela Diaz was 25th in 16:20.5, Reba Salinas was 26th in 16:26.1, Devyn Casillas was 29th in 16:36.7, Aniah Gonzalez was 34th in 17:12.8, Debrah Beltran was 38th in 17:30.9, Karyme Valencia was 45th in 17:52.7, Camila Berain was 68th in 19:43.3, and Faith Medrano was 81st in 22:12.3.

 

EIGHTH GRADE BOYS

Del Rio Middle School’s eighth grade boys team was first in its division with 75 points. They beat Medina Valley Middle School, which had 114 points, Cole, Brooks Academy Science and Engineering, and Great Hearts Northern Oaks.

Del Rio was led by a pair of runners that finished in the top 10. Julian Dominguez was sixth in 12:08, and Daniel Perez was eighth in 12:16.4.

Julyus Calderon was 13th in 12:36.1, Trent Serwatka was 26th in 13:08.3, Abraham Cardenas was 28th in 13:17.4, Zachary Palazuelos with 29th in 13:17.5, Reynaldo De Los Santos was 42nd in 13:45.8, Michael Cariaga was 53rd in 14:14, Jose Gallegos was 60th in 14:43.8, Armando Villanueva was 83rd in 15:50.7, Abraham Garcia was 87th in 16:00.1 and Antonio Scott was 88th in 16:00.5.
