SPORTS — Little League all-star tournaments begin this weekend at county complex

The Val Verde County Sports Complex off Frontera Road will be busy this weekend, hosting five youth baseball and softball tournaments beginning Friday night.

The District 35 Little League baseball and softball tournaments are to be hosted at the complex’s Field 1 and Field 3. All five tournaments are double elimination tournaments. Teams from Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Kinney County are scheduled to compete throughout the weekend.

 

DISTRICT 35 8-10 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Kinney County’s Little League all-star teams will take part in the 8-10 softball tournament beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at the complex’s Field 3.

Del Rio and Eagle Pass will square off in Game 1 on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to face Kinney County in Game 2 on Sunday at 9 p.m.

The loser of Game 1 will face the loser of Game 2 in an elimination game Monday at 7 p.m. The winner of Game 2 will face the winner of the first elimination game on Tuesday, June 28, at 9 p.m.

The “if necessary” game, should both teams have one loss after their first two games, will be played Thursday, June 30, at 9 p.m.

 

DISTRICT 35 8-10 BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

Del Rio and Eagle Pass will take part in the 8-10 all-star baseball tournament that begins Saturday at 8 p.m. at the complex’s Field 1.

Game 2 will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. If both teams each have one loss after the first two games, the “if necessary” game will be played Wednesday, June 29, at 9 p.m.

 

DISTRICT 35 10-12 BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Kinney County will face off in the 10-12 all-star baseball tournament at the complex’s Field 1.

Game 1 will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. between Del Rio and Kinney County.

Game 2 will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. between the winner of Game 1 and Eagle Pass.

Game 3 will be the tournament’s first elimination game as the loser of Game 1 will face the loser of Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.

Game 4 will be played Wednesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. between the winner of Game 2 and the winner of Game 3. If both teams have one loss after their first two games, then the “if necessary” game will be played Thursday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m.

 

DISTRICT 35 10-12 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Kinney County will be represented in the 10-12 all-star softball tournament at the complex’s Field 3.

Game 1 will be Friday at 9 p.m. between Kinney County and Eagle Pass.

Game 2 will be Saturday at 8 p.m. and will pit the Game 1 winner against Del Rio at 8 p.m.

Game 3 will be Sunday at 7 p.m. as the loser of Game 1 takes on the loser of Game 2 at 7 p.m. in the tournament’s first elimination game.

Game 4 will be Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. and will see the Game 2 winner against the Game 3 winner. If both teams have one loss after their first two games, the “if necessary” game will be played Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m.

 

DISTRICT 35 JUNIOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Del Rio and Eagle Pass will square off for the District 35 Junior League Softball Tournament championship at the complex’s Field 3.

Game 1 will be Monday at 9 p.m.

Game 2 will be Wednesday, June 29, at 7 p.m.

If the two teams split the first two games, then the “if necessary” game will be played Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m.
