After a tough outing at its own tournament, the Del Rio Queens golf team is getting back into form.

The team took second at the Border Olympics tournament in Laredo Friday. The tournament was a one-day event that featured teams from across the state.

The foursome was led by Lorena Torres, who shot an 88 and finished fourth overall.

Leanna Galindo shot a 96 as did Joelda Alcaraz. Adali Hernandez shot a 102 to round out the Queens’ team score of 382.

Del Rio’s last outing was the annual Brown Automotive Del Rio High School Girls Invitational Golf Tournament. There, the Queens finished third with rounds of 415 and 419.

The improvement was a welcome sight for head coach Oscar Cardenas who said that the most important tournament each year is always the district tournament. This year’s District 30-6A Girls Tournament is set for March 28-29 at the Max Mandel course in Laredo.
