Del Rio’s Queens volleyball team did its best to fill up the District 30-6A All-District teams.
The Queens earned five spots on the athletic side of the all-district teams and seven spots on the All-Academic team.
All five athletic selections also were named to the All-Academic team. That group included seniors Jada Martinez and Madelyn Hernandez, junior Lauren Sanchez and sophomores Devyn Casillas and Janiah Ross.
Martinez was the team’s sole first team selection. She was a setter for the Queens, helping set up the team’s big hitters.
Sanchez and Casillas were second team selections. Sanchez, who was named the Queens Utility Player of the Year last season, was a defensive specialist for the Queens. Casillas was one of the Queens’ outside hitters.
Ross and Hernandez were all-district honorable mention selections. Ross made her full-time varsity debut this season. Hernandez was named the Queens’ Most Improved Player last season as a junior. She was also a defensive specialist.
Joining the five all-district athletic selections on the all-academic team were Mariana Aguilar and Alyssa Garcia.
