Fans of Texas high school football can still catch a playoff game here in Del Rio tonight.
Though the Del Rio Rams were knocked out of the Texas High School Class 6A Division II playoffs last week, Del Rio’s Walter Levermann Ram Stadium will host a playoff game tonight between D’Hanis and Eldorado with a trip to the Class 2A Division II Regional Semifinals on the line.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are available online at https://www.vancoevents.com/us/events/landing?eid=16254&embed=1
The winner of tonight’s game will face the winner of the Falls City/Rocksprings playoff game, also taking place tonight.
Don’t know which team to support at Ram Stadium tonight? Here’s a little info on both teams:
D’Hanis Cowboys (9-1)
The D’Hanis Cowboys are the champions of District 15-2A. After losing their first game of the season, 14-7 to Harper, the Cowboys closed out the season with eight straight wins.
In their first playoff game against Woodsboro, D’Hanis pitched a shutout, 37-0, to advance to their meeting versus Eldorado.
If you’re of the philosophy that defense wins championships, then you could be a D’Hanis fan. In their 10 games, the Cowboys shutout opponents five times and have allowed just 38 points in the other five games.
Eldorado Eagles (9-1)
The Eldorado Eagles are the runners-up from District 14-2A, and its only loss this season came at the hands of Christoval, 46-22. Since then, the Eagles have won three straight including a 35-33 win over Somerville in the first round of the playoffs.
Eldorado was down to Somerville 27-7 in the fourth quarter before rallying for the two-point win on a 40-yard touchdown pass and a successful two-point conversion with less than two minutes left in the game.
If you’re a fan of offense, Eldorado is the team for you. The Eagles scored at least 42 points in eight of their 10 games this season including a 72-38 win over Wink and a 64-14 win over Miles.
