Del Rio just keeps on winning.

The Rams soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit Friday night to stop the San Antonio Stevens Falcons, 5-2, and advance to the Area round of the Class 6A, Region IV boys soccer playoffs.

The win is the Rams’ seventh in a row.

Del Rio will now face either Juarez-Lincoln or Donna North in the second round. As of press time, no announcement regarding the Rams’ area round game had been made.

The Rams were down 2-0 in the first half before scoring Tony Rodriguez scored Del Rio’s first goal. Down 2-1 at halftime, Del Rio knew what needed to be done in the second half.

“We told them that we were a much better team than them and as soon as we scored one more goal all of the other ones were going to fall in,” Rams assistant coach Leo Ramos said.

Noe Trujillo notched the first goal of the second half, off an assist from Emmanuel Vela, and the rest of the goals did indeed follow.

The Rams would wind up scoring five unanswered goals including four in the second half. Following Trujillo’s goal, Luis Estrada scored a pair of goals, with assists from Ely Losoya and Angel Aldrete, and Losoya scored a goal with an assist from Estrada.
