Del Rio picked up another valuable point in the district soccer standings, but the Rams missed out on a chance to earn at least one more.
The Rams tied with Laredo LBJ Wednesday night, 1-1, at the end of regulation. The match moved to a shootout with LBJ earning another point by edging the Rams, 4-3.
Alfain Peñaloza scored Del Rio’s only goal in regulation off an assist from Robert Garcia. In the shootout, Garcia, Losoya and Peñaloza were successful on their penalty kicks.
Del Rio now has 11 points in the District 30-6A boys soccer standings, but the Rams are now tied for fourth with Laredo United and Laredo Nixon.
LBJ is now in first place in the district with 18 points. Laredo Alexander is second with 16 points and Laredo United South is third with 14 points.
Del Rio is set to host the Laredo United Longhorns Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium.
