Del Rio’s recent trip to Kerrville will be one to remember for the Rams soccer team.
The boys in blue went 3-0 as they captured the tournament championship, bringing the first place plaque back to Del Rio.
Del Rio’s tournament run began with a 4-0 victory over Lockhart. Cesar Piña scored a pair of goals for Del Rio while Ely Losoya and Adrian Ramos contributed a goal each.
Next up came Chisholm Trail. Del Rio didn’t show any signs of scoring fatigue as the Rams hung six goals on Chisholm, eventually winning their second match of the tournament, 6-3.
Josh Renteria scored two goals for Del Rio. Losoya, Piña, Adrian Salazar and Antonio Pineda each scored one goal as Del Rio headed to the championship match.
In the finals, the Rams took on the host team from Kerrville Tivy. Del Rio continued its scoring barrage, putting up four goals in the win as the Rams double up the Antlers, 4-2.
Losoya, Trujillo, Salazar and Tony Rodriguez each scored for the Rams.
Del Rio was scheduled to travel to San Antonio Tuesday to face the McCollum Cowboys at 6:30 p.m.
The Rams’ next home match will be Tuesday, Jan. 17, when Del Rio hosts the Odessa Permian Panthers at 6 p.m. at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium. Junior varsity will play at 4 p.m.
