Del Rio’s regional quarterfinal match is going to be somewhat of an exclusive affair.
San Felipe Del Rio CISD Athletic Director Ric Smith explained Friday morning that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the persons that will be allowed into Dub Farris Stadium for Saturday’s Class 6A, Region IV Quarterfinal match against rival Laredo Alexander will be limited to those who have wristbands provided by the teams.
“Due the unavailability of stadium game workers over the Easter holiday weekend at the playoff venue, there are no tickets being sold online or at the gate for Saturday’s boys soccer playoff game. Each player, coach, and person affiliated with each team will receive five free wristbands or tickets to distribute to their family members to attend the game. Those are the only people being allowed in the venue,” Smith said.
Round three of the Del Rio/Laredo Alexander soccer rivalry will be held in San Antonio. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Del Rio will be the visiting team.
The winner of Saturday’s match advances to the regional tournament to face either San Antonio Lee or Schertz Clemens.
