Del Rio Chamber of Commerce and Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce representatives joined Walgreens officials and staff to celebrate the grand opening of Walgreens’ new Del Rio store with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The ceremony was held outside the Del Rio Walgreens, 909 Veterans Blvd., on Thursday, though the store had officially opened its doors here in October 2020.
Several Walgreens officials joined the local staff for the grand opening.
They included Stephanie McConnell, director of pharmacy and retail operations; Jorge Madrigal, Walgreens district manager; and Chris McMillan, area healthcare supervisor.
They joined members of the local staff, which included Jarrod Rodriguez, store/pharmacy manager; Deyanira Sanchez, pharmacy technician; and Marcela Muniz, pharmacy technician.
“Today we are having our grand opening for our Walgreens site here in Del Rio, and it’s a big day for us because it’s our first store in this community, and we are excited to come in and represent Walgreens and be able to serve all of the families and patients in the area,” McConnell said after cutting through the symbolic ribbon to signify the store’s opening.
“It’s really great to get to spend time in communities that are outside city hubs. We were ecstatic to have the opportunity to come into Del Rio, so we’re looking forward to getting to meet all of our future customers and patients and finding a way to be a staple in this community,” she added.
Walgreens’ hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The store will be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for an employee meal break.
