WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Congressional Hispanic Conference (CHC) elected Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) to serve as the organization’s Chairman for the 119th Congress. The CHC, founded in 2003 by Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26), seeks to emphasize both domestic and foreign policy issues that have a significant impact on the Hispanic community in the United States. In addition, the Conference represents the diversity of thought that exists in the Hispanic community.

“Hispanic Americans voted decisively for strong leadership—leadership that acts, doesn’t just talk.  Our voices helped build the Republican trifecta—our members are battle-tested common-sense legislators—they are the majority makers who sit on the most powerful committees in Congress. We have a country to save, and we will not back down in the fight to preserve the American dream, and keep our communities safe,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales, Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference. “Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart founded the Congressional Hispanic Conference 22 years ago and has done a remarkable job building up generations of Hispanic Members of Congress and fighting for our values in Washington. I am thankful for his leadership, and grateful to serve as the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference this Congress.”

“As we kick off the 119th Congress, it is an honor and privilege to continue being a member of the Congressional Hispanic Conference,” said Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, founder of the Congressional Hispanic Conference. “The growing number of Hispanic and minority Republicans in Congress proves that Americans reject the failed policies of the left – policies that have driven inflation to historic levels, sent gas prices soaring, and created the worst border crisis in our country’s history. As a conference, we are committed to defending the values of our constituents and advancing real, common-sense solutions for the American people.”

“This year, the Congressional Hispanic Conference is larger than ever before with a historic number of Latino Republicans serving on Capitol Hill. As the only Cuban-born Member of the 119th Congress, I look forward to working with my friends Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, the founder of the Congressional Hispanic Conference and Chairman Tony Gonzales to continue providing opportunities, delivering results, and expanding the American Dream for the diverse communities we serve,” said Congressman Carlos Giménez, newly elected Vice Chair of Community Outreach.

“From skyrocketing inflation, record high energy costs, and a border crisis that allowed deadly drugs to stream into our communities, Hispanic Americans have felt the impact of Biden’s failed policies and have become more engaged in the political process than ever before,” said Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), the newly elected Vice Chair of Policy. “Hispanic Americans are not single-issue voters and are leaning more conservative. The Congressional Hispanic Conference helps us as conservative Hispanics in Congress make sure their voices are represented through common sense policies and initiatives that promote economic prosperity, public safety and preserve the American Dream.”

“As the first Republican Latina to serve my district, I am honored to be a Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Conference for the 119th Congress. Hispanic Americans played a critical role in re-electing President Trump, and they have given us a historic mandate to restore the American dream. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to collaborate on policies that boost our communities, amplify our voices, and create new opportunities for all Americans,” said Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), the newly elected Vice Chair of Communications.

“The growing number of Hispanic voices in the Republican Party proves that we are fed up with the Democrats’ reckless policies that led to sky high inflation and an unprecedented crisis at the southern border,” said Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), the newly elected Vice Chair of Member Services. “As the first naturalized citizen from Mexico to represent Arizona in any federal office, I look forward to working with Chairman Tony Gonzales and all the members of the Congressional Hispanic Conference to continue highlighting Hispanic voices, deliver real results, and make the American Dream attainable again.”

“Hispanics make up the largest minority in the Country, and a record number of Hispanic Republicans represent them in Congress. This is a remarkable achievement,” said Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, (FL-27). “I look forward to working with the Congressional Hispanic Conference, and my good friends, Reps. Mario Díaz-Balart and Tony Gonzales, on policies that will benefit all of our constituents and the entire Hispanic community across the United States.”

“I’m proud to celebrate the values and contributions of Hispanic Americans and their stories—like my Abuelito Chavez who earned his citizenship fighting for our country in World War II. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Congressional Hispanic Conference and I look forward to working with my colleagues to lower inflation, strengthen public safety, and make the American Dream more attainable,” said Congressman Gabe Evans, (CO-08).

Many members of the Congressional Hispanic Conference serve on the top three “A-level” committees in Congress, known as the House Appropriations Committee, House Committee on Ways and Means, and House Energy and Commerce Committee.
