2025 Chinese New Year’s Parade

The annual Del Rio Chinese New Year Parade will take place on South Main Street Saturday to welcome and celebrate the Year of the Snake.

The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. on South Main Street and East Losoya Street, and it will end at the Paul Poag Theatre, 746 S. Main St.

The parade is being organized by Diana Stern, wife of Del Rio attorney Jack Stern and for many years the ambassadress of Chinese culture here, and Stern’s friend, Adva Chattler, and it is sponsored by the Del Rio Main Street Program.

Chattler said in previous years, the parade has been a long-standing tradition showcasing Chinese culture in Del Rio. After the parade is finished, food trucks and vendors will be set up in the downtown area and a bouncy castle will be available for kids to play in.

The exhibition will take place at 800 S. Main Street, and it will start at 2 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

The sports fest will have bicycle performances by Bicycle Motorcross Freestyle Team, a California-based company hosting community events to promote outdoor activities. The performers include Del Rio hometown celebrities Robert Castillo and Ruben Castillo, who are both National American Freestyle Association Masters Champions.

Main Street Manager Jorge Garza said the sports fest is a family-friendly event, and it will include music, local vendors and bouncy castles. A raffle will also take place at the event for people to win bicycles donated by Zen Bikes Del Rio and Leo’s Wrecker Service or scooters donated by Lucky Pro Scooters.

Sweet Rides & Scoops Car Meet

A car meet event will be held Saturday at Sweet Scoops Real Fruit Ice Cream where car owners can showcase their prized vehicles.

Sweet Rides & Scoops Car Meet will take place at 107 W. Dignowity St., and it will last from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Food vendors will be provided at the event, which will also include music by DJ Martinez..

The car event is being put together by Sweet Scoops, Texas Tint and Shane’s Whiskey and Bourbon House. Cesar Garza, owner of Texas Tint, said the event was created to continue the trend of having car show events in Del Rio.

Garza said the car meet is free for anyone to attend, and he said it is different from a car show because it does not include a competition or prizes. Everyone is invited to bring their custom-built vehicles, whether they are completed or still being tinkered with.
