NEWS — Juveniles steal debit/credit card, busted at mall

On May 18th, 2025, at approximately 9:49 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 900 block of East 6th Street for a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival the officer met with the complainant who reported misc. property was removed from the interior of the vehicle to include US currency, debit card and credit cards under the name of the victim.

The investigating officer canvassed the neighborhood and obtained surveillance footage from the previous night of the suspects described as a group of juveniles.

While the officer remained in the area, the victim received bank notifications of various transactions made with the stolen debit card totaling over $1,400.00. The officer noticed one transaction was recently processed at a local store at the mall.

The officer drove to the mall and spoke to a cashier that described the actors as a group of juveniles and provided clothing description to the officer.

The officer located the group of three male juveniles ranging from 13-14 years of age as they attempted to make another purchase utilizing the victim’s debit/credit card.

Two of the juveniles were taken into custody immediately, while one of the juveniles evaded the police. The third male juvenile was located and taken into custody.

All three male juveniles were taken into custody and charged with Credit / Debit Card Abuse (11 Counts) and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Additionally, the juvenile that evaded police was also charged with Evading Arrest or Detention.

All three juveniles were transported to the police station for processing and later released to the custody of Juvenile Detention Center.
