On June 21, 2025, at approximately 8:41 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to IHOP Restaurant located at 2203 Veterans Blvd. for an assault that had just occurred.
Upon arrival police met with the female victim who stated a male,
household member identified as Zheaya Williams assaulted her during an argument while traveling to her place of employment.

The victim had visible injuries to the face and complained of pain due to the assault. Police conducted a follow-up investigation at the suspect’s residence, but he was not located.
The victim was escorted to the residence to gather personal belongings. Upon making entry into the residence, police located both toddlers unattended inside the residence. The children had been abandoned by Williams who arrived at the scene later after claiming he was visiting a friend.
Zheaya Williams; 28 yrs. of age was arrested for the offenses of Assault Causes Bodily Injury / Family Violence and Abandon/Endanger Child/Individual with Intent to Return. An Emergency Protective Order Affidavit was filed on behalf of the victim and the children.
Williams was transported to the police station where he was processed for the offenses. He was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
