They’ve been around for two years, but Frontline Medical Transport had its official grand opening Aug. 21 at their 600 N. Bedell Ave. location.

The event, marked with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, drew local leaders, business owners and residents.
The company now stands as Del Rio’s only independent ground medical transport.
Jorge Jurado, Val Verde Regional Medical Center CEO, said the company is vital to Del Rio’s medical care.
“Frontline Medical Transports have been invaluable in caring for our community,” said Jurado. “Their presence strengthens the safety net for VVRMC, Del Rio and Val Verde County by ensuring our patients can be safely transported to a higher level of care when needed.”
Frontline’s boss said they aren’t an overnight success. Jose Santos Gomez, CEO and co-owner of Frontline, said getting the company to this point wasn’t easy.
“Starting during COVID was probably not the best time,” Gomez said. However, Gomez and his four-person ownership team wasn’t to be deterred. The ownership team is Gomez, Reginaldo Flores, Jr.; Carlos G. Castaneda and Jesus Gomez Arizpe.
“You have to have a building, you have to have the vehicles, you have to have everything in place to start off with the license,” Gomez told the audience standing alongside Bedell Avenue.
The company rented space behind Taco Bell and got everything in place, so they could receive their license, he said.
Like a runner clearing hurdle after hurdle, the Frontline team has cleared every hindrance as they now stand as Del Rio’s only private medical ground transport.
After fighting for a place in the market place several years ago, they are now the only show in town when it comes to private medical ground transport.
Gomez closed the ceremony with some very simple words: “God bless you all and welcome to Frontline Medical Transports,” he said
Afterwards, the team opened the company’s seven ambulances and wheelchair transport van for tours as others checked out their new headquarters.
