City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On September 12th, 2025, at approximately 5:02 P.M. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 700 block of East 14th Street for a welfare check after a female was heard crying.
Upon arrival, police met with a male subject at the scene and later
observed a female identified as Laretta Lu Villarreal, 47 years of age. Villarreal was inside the residence; police had recently arrested her for the offense of Assault causing Bodily Injury- Family Violence. Police had requested the issuance of an Emergency Protective Order on behalf of the affected person.
Police conducted a warrant inquiry and confirmed Villarreal had an active Emergency Protective Order prohibiting her from going within 200 yards of the location and also communicating directly with the protected person.
Villarreal was arrested for the offense of Violation Bond/Protective Order and was transported to the police station for processing.
Once at the Del Rio Police Department officers located a small black bag on her person. The bag contained several pills that were identified as prescription only medication. Villarreal was unable to provide proof of a Doctor’s prescription and was charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs.
Villarreal was transported to GEO Correctional Facility pending Magistration process.
