Del Rio Police Department press release
Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to a call regarding a fight in progress at a local bar, located at 202 E. Gibbs Street.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male subject at the

front of the building who was bleeding from multiple wounds to his head and mouth while bystanders rendered first aid.
The male reported to officers that he had been assaulted by Armando Vaquera, who struck him repeatedly with a glass bottle outside the establishment. Witnesses on scene confirmed Vaquera as the aggressor. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived to provide treatment, and the victim’s injuries were documented by officers.
The victim further stated the assault began after he greeted Vaquera’s girlfriend in the parking lot, which prompted Vaquera to become upset and strike him approximately 20 times with a glass bottle.
Officers conducted an extensive search for Vaquera, contacting multiple associates and family members. Ultimately, officers located Vaquera at a residence on Mountain View Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Vaquera was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing.
