NEWS — Stolen motorcycle recovered; suspect arrested

The following information was provided by the Del Rio Police Department.

On February 23, 2026, at approximately 10:17 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 800 block of South Main Street in reference to a reported stolen motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who advised he had parked his motorcycle at approximately 8:00 p.m. and discovered it missing

around 10:00 p.m. Officers immediately conducted a canvass of the area and located video surveillance footage showing suspects removing the motorcycle from the location.

On February 24, 2026, at approximately 1:51 a.m., a Del Rio Police Officer observed the stolen motorcycle being operated by a male subject. A traffic stop was initiated, and the operator was identified as Rene Garcia, 31 years of age. Garcia matched the physical and clothing description of one of the suspects captured in the surveillance video.

Rene Garcia was placed under arrest for the offense of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, as he did not have the owner’s consent to operate the motorcycle.

Garcia was transported to the police station for processing and was later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending the magistration process.
