“My qualifications and experiences to serve on the Del Rio City Council At-Large Place C: I was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas. Family roots in San Felipe. Helped rebuild historic Brown Plaza. My education has been my life experiences. Business owner experience: owner of Frances Florist for 15 years. Manager and merchandiser of JC Penney fine jewelry department. Coursework Gemological Institute of America. 25 years sales and marketing experience.
“Serving veterans: Widow of a 24-year Air Force veteran. Mother of two Air Force veterans.
“Board director experience: San Felipe Exes, 1965 graduate of San Felipe High School. Brown Plaza Association, Quad Counties Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Amistad Lions Club, Del Rio Host Lions Club, chairwoman of The American GI Forum.
“Full-time community volunteer: Catholic Charities, Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, IGNC International Good Neighbor Council, Christmas Around the World.
“Retired and available to serve 24 hours seven days a week, Woman of the Year-Comite Cultural del Pueblo 2002.
“City experience: Mayor Pro-tem under Del Rio Mayor Dora Alcala, served on (city) council under four mayors, presently serving At-Large position Place C, presently serving on the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Committee, served on Main Street Program, 15 years’ experience in city government.

Question 2: What is your vision for the office of mayor for the next four years?
“My number one concern is our water supply. We must continue working on our water wells and treatment plants. Also, work on water rates to make them affordable for our citizens.
“Continue working on the city streets and find revenue such as grants to be able to pave streets and work on the infrastructure.
“Work with the Economic Development (Corporation) to bring businesses to Del Rio and tourists for economic growth to Del Rio.
“Work with other entities – hospital, school and county; united we can accomplish great projects and quality of life for our citizens.
“Meet with the employees of the city on a monthly basis to find out what their needs and concerns are.
“I will work to achieve the goals I have mentioned above.”
