The Del Rio Council of the Arts at the Firehouse, 120 E. Garfield St., will exhibit paintings by their month’s featured artist: Pamela Reed on Friday, Aug. 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The “Trail of Flowers” exhibit will be showing 18 pieces representing her childhood memories through paintings of wildflowers, animals and Texan landscapes. Reed spoke with The 830 Times early in the week to talk a bit more about her life and what she wants people to take away from it when visiting the Firehouse on Friday.
Reed was born and raised in San Antonio and lived around the Central America area, including visiting family in Del Rio in the early 2010s. Reed returned to San Antonio, where she lived for seven years before moving back to Del Rio in November 2025.
Reed said she has been painting her entire life and has been influenced by culture, colors and environments shown by artists from Mexico. Reed also went into detail about the magic and special feelings she gets when painting, quoting Pablo Picasso’s sayings about capturing movement in 2D work.
