The city council and county commissioners court will hold a joint meeting Tuesday to discuss the proposed second international bridge being planned by the city.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Red Oak Ballroom in the Del Rio Civic Center, 1915 Veterans Blvd.
Both the Del Rio City Council and Val Verde County Commissioners Court have posted agendas for the meeting, which are available for review on the city and county web sites.
The city agenda contains a single public item, listed as “discussions, questions and answers with citizens regarding the second international bridge project; possible action regarding same.”
The city and the city’s consultants on the bridge project hosted a public meeting about the planned second international bridge project in November, but citizens were not given the opportunity to speak or ask questions during that meeting.
At the time, the bridge project consultants encouraged those with questions about the project to write down their comments and mail them in, either via regular post or email.
The city council’s posted agenda for the meeting also includes a closed door executive session to consult with its attorney, “to discuss and receive advice on the second international bridge project related to pending or contemplated litigation or on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body matter under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct has a conflict with the chapter.”
The council is set to return into open session following the executive session.
The county agenda only contains a single public item, listed as “discussion and possible action on the second international bridge road right-of-way.”
