A man accused of taking electronics from a vacant house was charged with felony burglary, police said.

Jason Jonathon Eagles, 41, 410 W. Third St., was arrested at 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 12, according to a report released by the Del Rio Police Department. Eagles was charged with the offense of burglary of a building, a state jail felony, the report on his arrest showed.

In an incident report and an affidavit filed in the case, DRPD Senior Officer Elijah Sandoval reported he was dispatched to 500 W. First St. at 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 12 after police received a call “of a suspicious male subject in a red shirt searching through an empty residence.” The caller told police the man appeared to be removing electronics from the vacant house.

“I arrived on scene and observed a male, later identified as Eagles, exiting the dilapidated home. Eagles was detained pending further investigation,” Sandoval wrote.

“I entered the vacant home and verified no one else was inside. The home had no running water or electric services, not adapted for the overnight accommodation of persons,” the officer added.

Sandoval noted he observed a Dodge pickup registered to Eagles parked in front of the vacant house. He wrote he saw “a JVC brand speaker in plain view in the bed of Eagles’ pickup.”

“Eagles claimed he recycled electronics and had not stolen any items that were in his pickup,” Sandoval wrote.

Del Rio police dispatchers located the owner of the vacant house, identified as Guadalupe Guerra, who made his way there.

“Guerra stated the JVC speaker system located in the bed of Eagles’ pickup belonged to him and had last been located in the living room of the (vacant) residence. I placed Eagles under arrest for burglary of building. Eagles was then transported to the Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing,” Sandoval wrote.

Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Jesse James Treviño set a bail amount of $12,000 in the case.
