Bear, cub in Del Rio neighborhood

A small female black bearĀ  and its cub have been cornered in a Northern Del Rio neighborhood.

The duo have been leading a small parade of wildlife biologists and game wardens who have been following them, in an effort to protect the duo from humans.

It’s been reported by social media that the two have been shot at by people with paintball guns.

Presently, the two are in the backyard of a home napping.

ā€œRight now, we are trying to keep people from them so they can de-stress,ā€ said Fred Knoll, Del Rio chief of police. ā€œEventually, we want to move them towards areas that are less inhabited.ā€

It’s the second bear episode they’ve had in the last several weeks.

ā€œWe ask that as much as it’s fun for people to see a bear, to please stay back and give them space at this time, to lessen their stress,ā€ said Knoll.
