On August 9, 2022 the Del Rio Police Department received a call referencing an adult male soliciting a child over the internet.
The officer met with the complainant who reported a male subject communicated with her in a sexually explicit manner with the intent to engage in sexual conduct. The caller provided the suspect’s identifiers and address. Police conducted a follow-up and located the male suspect at his residence.
Evidence at scene corroborated the complainant’s allegations. The male, Jonathon Curtis Tidd, 31, was arrested for Solicitation of a Minor under the age of 14. The male was transported to the police station where he was interviewed by police and Homeland Security Investigators.
During the interview the suspect confessed to communicating in a sexually explicit manner with the minor, knowing she was 13 years of age. The suspect also confessed to communicating in the same manner with another female child possibly 11 years of age from Del Rio, along with other young children outside of Texas. The suspect’s cellular phone was seized for further investigation.
